June 1-2015

Largest Chinook : 28lbs.
Largest Halibut : 65lbs.

Here goes for start up 2015.

Been busy busy up here in Caamano Sound.  Tons of work to do and we may just be ready for the first guests on June 5th.  New Fish processing area and new crew barge and a little new everything.  So be prepared for some pretty major differences to the function of the lodge.  Good thing is that it is the same people, a couple new faces, some old faces and some from last year.

Most important is the fishing, which has been steady over the past few days.  The Chinook bite has been best in the mornings up at #5 and #13 and also in Hicks Channel where oddly enough the halibut fishing has been on par with the salmon fishing.  Protrolls and UV style spoons have been woking the best, compliment the lure with an inline flasher or ran as a dummy and that has been best for enticing them to bite.

We have only put in a few hours offshore and the results have been great.  There is a lot of Lingcod out on the rocks, we released a couple 20's and a 40 the other night plus came home with a limit of 8-15 pounders.  The Snapper were a little more elusive and no halibut were caught.  Wells Rock was the only place we tried and it was worth it.

Regular staff are just getting in so we will have another update for you in the next few days.  Can't wait for that chopper to land on Friday.
