There is another fire reported in BC and it’s in the waters of Caamano Sound. Fishing has been hot and the fish can’t get by us. Incredible Chinook fishing these past few days, 5 more Tyee have been caught in the past 24 hours and loads of high teens to high twenties are being brought in. That’s 28 Tyee in the past 17 days, biggest caught today at 38.2 pounds and they seem on average to be getting bigger. Wall Island definitely continues to be the hot spot. The tack at the top end of Rennison has been consistent all day long, for Coho and Chinook. These are new fish running through and they are hungry. The fishing at #5, Nob Hill and #1 Wall has been great as well with good fish. Trolling anything seems to work, plugs(500), Flasher/Anchovy and Flasher/Spoon down 50-70 feet has worked the best. Lots of green getting pulled around right now. The water this year is perfect, clear and cold and absolutely plugged full of bait. The other side of the sound at Area 51 has been alright but nothing to write home about, conditions up there are a little different, murky and 3 degrees warmer and almost void of bait. Halibut fishing is work but there is some beauties being taken off Shakespeare and Little Haida Gwaii. Incredible continuation to the season. There is a hype in the air up here that is hard to explain without seeing it for yourself.
